Baja California

Meet the friendliest whales
Baja California is a state in Mexico and a unique place for whale and dolphin lovers. The Pacific Ocean on one side and Gulf of California, known as the Sea of Cortez, on the other teeming with marine life. Jacques Cousteau called Sea of Cortez "the world's aquarium" - it contains more than 40% of the species that live in the oceans.

This trip is something you will never forget. We will spend a few days with the friendliest whales in the world
in famous San Ignacio lagoon. This place is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Every year gray whales migrate to protected lagoons in Baja California. Here they give birth and, for unknown reasons,
are very fond of spending time with people. They swim close to the boat, let themselves be stroked, hugged and kissed!
This is the only place in the world where such contact is possible.

In addition to gray whales, we will also visit La Paz and Loreto Bay National Marine Park in search of whale sharks, blue whales, dolphins and sea lions.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrival in Loreto

We will meet you at the airport, check into a hotel or apartment. The first day is reserved for adaptation to a new place. We will explore the beaches and local attractions.

Day 2 - Sea adventure

After breakfast, we will set off on our first sea adventure! We will be looking for the biggest animal on the planet - blue whale. There are great chances to observe this amazing animals in Loreto. Blue whale sightings are most popular in February and March. The whales come to Loreto to feed, clave and mate.

We will spent around 4-5 hours in the ocean. If time allows, we will also look for dolphins and visit Coronado island to observe colony of sea lions. We will be able to swim with playful sea lions and observe them underwater on their terms.

Ocean activities are always unpredictable and depend entirely on the weather. If conditions will not allow us to go out in the sea, we will spend the day on land and visit local attractions.

Day 3 - Gray whales in the famous San Ignacio lagoon

Early in the morning we will drive to the lagoon to see gray whales. Transportation is going to take around 5 hours. Upon arrival, we will have lunch and go on our first tour to see the friendly giants.

San Ignacio lagoon is one of the best locations in Baja to encounter gray whales. This friendly giants will come close to our boat, where we will be able to touch, kiss and look into their deep eyes.
Everyone will remember this day!

We will live in the lagoon with the whales. This place is a national park and there are no hotels within an hour of the lagoon. We will live in the camp, in small cabins for 2 people. There are private dry bathroom in each cabin. Water and electricity are precious commodities in San Ignacio lagoon since all power is generated by the sun and the wind. Dry bathroom system uses saw dust instead of water. Showers are public, hot water is generated by solar panels. The camp has a cook who will surprise us with local cuisine. Our stay in the camp will not be luxury, but truly memorable. We are going to be really close to the whales and experience their amazing world as close as possible.

Day 4-5 - Gray whale encounters

We will spend two full days with gray whales.
We will go out to see them 2 times a day - in the morning and in the afternoon.
The schedule depends on the weather.

These will be the most unforgettable days of your life. Each whale encounter is different from the last. Here everything is according to their rules and none of us can predict what to expect. And that is amazing! When you think that nothing better can happen - whales can really surprise you!

Day 6 - Farewhale and transportation to Loreto

In the morning we will go to say goodbye to the whales. Kiss and hug them tightly one more time.
After that we will have lunch and drive back to Loreto.
